Even as Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi announced his resignation from his Lok Sabha seat on Friday, sources said no letter in this regard has been received from the Bhiwani MP as of yet. “We have not received any resignation letter from Bishnoi through fax,” a source in the Lok Sabha said. In any case, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee does not accept a resignation letter unless the member concerned personally hands it over to him. “Besides, the letter has to match the format specified in the rulebook.” This implies that the resignation letter, even if received through mail or fax, would not be effective. Since Bishnoi has made it clear that he would come to Delhi only after March 22, when the mourning period following the death of his nephew ends, he would call on the Speaker only thereafter.
