
CHANDIGARH, JULY 29: Doctor G S Kochhar and Alamgir Grewal have made it to the quarterfinals of the Independence Cup Golf Cup here. They beat the pair of K Y Yoo and H S Aneja in sudden death, after they were tied after 18 holes.
In the most exciting round of the day, Kochhar-Alamgir went into the sudden death with their rivals but the match was also halved with a birdie on the 19th hole. Again, the 20th hole saw it remained the same with a par. However, Kochhar-Alamgir prevailed on the 21st hole with a chip in birdie. Sixty players teed-off the event two weeks ago and the final will be played on the Independence Day, August 15.
Among others to have made it to the last eight are the pairs of Gurbaaz Mann-Nitin Mittal, Sanjit Bala-Kalbir Singh, Col B S Shergill-Gp Capt A S Dhadli, J S Bakshi-Karanbir Pannu and S P S Matharoo-Cdr J V Singh.
