MUMBAI, SEPT 20: GN Khalsa and St Xavier8217;s have entered the final of the Inter-college women8217;s basketball tournament. In the semi-finals at Indian Gymkhana today, Khalsa put out defending champions VG Vaze 34-24, while Xavier8217;s defeated RA Podar 39-30.
Khalsa had an easy time against Vaze, weakened considerably since National Manisha Khaprekar graduated. The surprise package in the Khalsa offence was junior National Sonali D8217;Souza, who in the past has been accused of revelling only in defence. Sonali added 11 points to the Khalsa tally, while Quintina Noronha top-scored with 17.
But any hopes Podar harboured of cutting into Xavier8217;s half-time lead of 21-12 were dashed by Loveena8217;s consistent shooting. Ami Momaya waged a lone battle for Podar, scoring 15, including two 3-pointers.

Yash Wagh and Neha Chouhan emerged champions in the midget boys8217; and girls8217; sections, respectively, of the District Ranking table tennis tournament at the MIG Cricket Club premises, Bandra E, today.

Midget boys final: Yash Wagh bt Abijit Balani 16-21, 21-9, 23-21. Semis: Abijit Balani bt Ruturaj Kulkarni 21-15, 21-13; Yash Wagh bt Pranav Marwah 21-13, 21-19.
Cadet boys Q-F: Aman Balgu bt Yash Wagh 21-7, 21-8; Rajat Hubli bt Karan Thakkar 21-12,21-14.
Midget girls final: Neha Chouhan bt Munmayee Mhatre 21-17, 14-21, 21-16. Semis: Neha bt Sukhada Kulkarni 23-25, 21-8, 21-13; Mrunmayee Mhatre bt Radhika Patil 21-12, 21-9.
