January 12: Kerala retained the overall supremacy, securing 378 points as curtains came down on the 14th Inter-State Junior Athletic Championship at the Barabati Stadium here on Tuesday.

Athletes from Kerala bagged 23 gold, 19 silver and equal number of bronze medals to top the table. West Bengal with 238 points (11 gold, seven silver, five bronze) finished second, followed by Karnataka (10 gold, 13 silver, 11 bronze) with 230 points.

In all 20 new records were set in the four-day meet, out of which the closing day’s share was six.

Andhra Pradesh sprinter emerged S Geetha the most successful athlete as she completed a golden treble.
