NEW DELHI, May 5: Fine spell of left-arm spin bowling by Karan Harit, a student of Modern School (Barakhamba Road), helped Sonnet beat Jaipur’s Surana Academy by 23 runs in the final of Rajesh Peter memorial tournament for juniors, organised by Young Friends Club, at Harbaksh Stadium here.

Put in to bat, Sonnet made 173 for six, thanks to opener Deepak Rajput’s unbeaten 64 and useful contributions from Shikhar Dhavan (32) and Kunnal Narang (26). In reply, Surana, who were 78 for four at one stage, recovered through a 70-run stand which was, however, broken by Harit, who finished with four wickets and was later declared the man of the match.

The tournament was held in memory of Rajesh Peter, who played for Delhi in junior and senior tournaments.

Brief scores
Sonnet: 173 for 6 in 42.4 overs (Deepak Rajput 64 not out, Shikhar Dhavan 32, Kunnal Narang 26, Arvind Mann 2 for 57).
Surana Academy: 150 all out in 42.4 overs (Ashish Pratek 34, Mohit Gupta 29, Arvind Mann 23, Karan Harit 4 for 33).
