New Delhi, May 21: Two gangsters of the notorious `Kapil gang' were killed in an encounter at Jharoda village in Najafgarh area of south-west Delhi today.The gangsters, identified as Rishi Pal alias Rishi, a dismissed police constable and Jitender alias Jeetu, were killed in a shoot-out with the city police's special cell sleuths around 0730 hrs, joint commissioner of police (intelligence) S Ramakrishnan told reporters here.Acting on information that Kapil gang members had plans to kill one Kuldeep, a transporter and sympathiser of their rival gang leader Anoop, who is now in Tihar jail, in village Jharoda, the special cell sleuths laid traps at various points of possible entry of the gangsters in the village, he said.A police party spotted Rishi Pal and Jitender coming on a motor cycle and then taking position in bushes near a drain in the village, he said. "They (gangsters) were apparently waiting for Kuldeep who was to come there to answer the call of nature," he said.When the police party tried to nab them, the gangsters opened fire, in the return fire the two of them were seriously injured.They were immediately removed to DDU hospital, where they were declared brought dead, Ramakrishnan said. He said three policemen were also shot at by the gangsters but they escaped unhurt because of their bullet-proof jackets.A .455 bore revolver with five empty cartridges and six live ones were recovered from Rishi Pal, while a .38 revolver with six empty cartridges and eight live cartridges were recovered from Jitender, the joint commissioner of poice said.Rishi Pal (35), who was dismissed from the Delhi police after he joined the Kapil gang in 1997, was involved in seven cases of murder and attempt to murder cases.However, Jitender, who was the hitman of the Kapil gang, was involved in only two cases, attempt to murder and one under arms act.Kapil and Anoop gangs had been very active in Najafgarh area and there have been several incidents of killing of members of both the gangs in the past.
