PUNE, December 29: The ongoing tug-of-war between the pro and anti-Suresh Kalmadi factions within the city Congress claimed its first victim today with the removal of Chandrakant Chhajed from the post of the party’s Leader of the House at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

A meeting of Congress corporators chaired by city unit chief Mohan Joshi passed an unanimous resolution, copies of which were made available to the media late night, to remove Chhajed from the post for indulging in anti-party activities.

It was brought to the notice of Joshi by several corporators that Chhajed was pressurising them to leave the Congress.
