MUMBAI, July 5: Chief Minister Manohar Joshi had a taste of poor performance of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, particularly in respect of curbing the illegal and unauthorised structures in the metropolis.“Several hutments were being erected in my presence when I visited Mahim.

Significantly, I was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Girish Gokhale and other officials responsible to curbing unauthorised hutments,” Joshi said. Talking to media persons on the eve of the three week monsoon session of the state legislature, Joshi said following his directives of the G-North ward have already been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty.

Joshi said in fact after the alliance government came to power two and half years ago, it had declared that it will take stern action against those ward officers and police inspectors, in whose jurisdiction such unauthorised constructions are reported.The Chief Minister said he has chalked out an ambitious plan to scientifically develop four arterial roads in Mumbai.
