The Country8217;s largest stainless steel producer, Jindal Stainless, has announced plans to set up a 300 acre sector-specific stainless steel Special Economic Zone SEZ in collaboration with small entrepreneurs who are involved in manufacture of forward integrated products. The SEZ would be set right alongside the company8217;s own upcoming plant in Jajpur, and the proposal is expected to come up for approval before the Board of Approvals for SEZs soon.
8220;The entire land is owned by the government and we do not foresee any problem in its acquisition. In any case, it is relatively smaller in size and not in line with the mega-projects that Tata, Posco and Arcelor Mittal are setting up in the state,8221; said Jindal Stainless vice-chairman and managing director Ratan Jindal. 8220;This SEZ, which will share synergies with our plant in Jajpur, will be involved in forward integration processes like manufacturing sinks, etc. We are getting the land cheap there at around Rs 4.5-5 lakh per acre and it is also close to the Paradip port.8221;
