MUMBAI, FEB 9: Jamnabai Narsee A and Utpal Sanghvi won the under-16 boys and girls titles respectively in the MSSA-Colgate Inter-school Handball competition at Schools Sports Centre, Azad Maidan, on Wednesday. Vasant Vihar and St Anne’s (Fort) were the respective under-14 champions.

Brinston slams four
Four goals by Brinston Carvalho propelled St Anne’s (Orlem) to a 9-0 triumph over St Michael’s (Mahim) B in the Oliver Andrade Trophy (under-10) hockey tournament at the St Stanislaus ground, Bandra. Mathew Thomas (2), Daval Sharma, Calvin Carassco and Mayur Jadhav were the other scorers for St Anne’s.

Yogesh, Rakesh excel
An unbeaten 74 by one-drop Yogesh Rajput and a fine all-round performance by Rakesh Kanojia helped last year’s runners-up Springfield Rizvi beat Anjuman-I-Islam by seven wickets in the quarter-finals of the Kellogg’s Super Cup Inter-School (45 overs) cricket tournament, conducted by the Mumbai Schools Sports Association, at the Cross Maidan.
Anjuman, who batted first, did well to score 170-9. One-drop Rashid Shaikh contributed an unbeaten 75. Off-spinner Rakesh Kanojia was the pick of the bowlers with 3-40.
Springfield suffered an early setback, losing three wickets for 38 runs. However the fourth wicket pair of Yogesh Rajput and Rakesh saw them through by putting on 134 runs for the unbroken stand. Yogesh’s 74 was studded with 11 hits to the ropes off 78 balls, while Rakesh had six fours in his 47 off 62 balls.
In the other quarter-final, reigningchampions Shardashram English beat Swami Vivekanand, Borivli, by eight wickets. Opener Pradosh Mayekar (64, 9×4), off-spinner Vikrant Yelligetti (4-19) and leg-spinner Sunil Waghela (4-19) were the heroes.
