
MUMBAI, MARCH 11: The Maharashtra government will soon take a decision on a year8217;s imprisonment for stonethrowing on local as well as long distance trains, informed Minister of State for Home Prabhakar More.
More announced this at a meeting called to take stock of the stonethrowing incidents in the city. The meet was attended by senior officials from police department and officials of the Central and Western Railway.
More said that the parents of children who indulge in such pranks will also be held responsible for the act. Meanwhile, the railways have decided to put wire mesh on all the windows of the local trains. Also, slums which have been responsible for maximum cases of stonethrowing will be identified and declared stonethrowing8217; areas. More requested the railways to deploy more police force in these areas.
The minister also assured the railways of all possible help from the police and the state government to tackle the problem. He has also appealed to commuters8217; organisations to suggest ways to solve the problem.
More has asked the concerned authorities to chalk out concrete action plan and also hold meetings with the local people where such incidents are reported.
