Jackson mistakes MTV birthday cake for ‘millennium’ award

Michael Jackson has received so many awards during his career, he mistook a birthday gift from MTV as another.

Britney Spears presented Jackson with a birthday cake at Thursday’s Video Music Awards, where she gushed she considered him to be the ‘‘artiste of the millennium’’.

When Jackson was presented with the cake and a statuette, he said he never dreamt he’d be getting an ‘‘artiste of the millennium’’ award. The statuette was a token of

appreciation on his 44th birthday which coincided with the awards show, MTV spokesman Graham James said.
