The Indian Telecom Service Association ITSA has once again turned down the government8217;s offer to join the Department of Telecom DoT or be 8216;8216;absorbed8217;8217; by the telecom PSUs BSNL and MTNL.

It has asked for a fresh round of consultation with the DoT to arrive at a mutually acceptable package for the 1,300 officials who were asked to join DoT. On Monday, ITSA officials accused the government of 8216;8216;misleading the Union Cabinet8217;8217; about previous consultations and favouring the 8216;8216;IAS lobby8217;8217;, resulting in a loss of upto Rs 3,000 crore to BSNL.

8216;8216;We were not consulted adequately by the government, and when we were called to meetings by the telecom minister or the telecom secretary. The government has not consulted us with an open mind and it misled the Cabinet that it had,8217;8217; said ITSA President SS Sirohi.
