CHANDIGARH, MARCH 4: Some people like to be on big wheels 8230; but as Zirakpur8217;s new go-karting track demonstrates, little wheels are more fun. The youngsters who turned up at the 8220;re-opening8221; of the Cyclone Go-Karting Track vouched for the excitement 8230; and so did VJ Nafisa Joseph who was on hand for the ceremony.

The actual inaugurating honours were left to Union Industries Minister of State Sukhbir Singh Badal 8230; who looked as though he would have liked to buzz around the track if ministerial propriety permitted.

The proprietors claim that the 350-metre track provides a taste of the thrill of rally driving. And after his 15 laps around the track, one Class VI student, Aditya, agreed that he was starting to feel a bit like Jackie Stewart.

Sidak, who studies in Class V, regretted that he didn8217;t feel confident enough to drive 8220;really fast8221; but vowed to increase his speed. 8220;This is only my second time in the kart so I could manage an average speed of just 35 km; next time I will cut loose,8221; he averred.

Sidak is not the only one determined to be back on the track soon. Dilsher, who apparently has had more experience at the wheel, clocked an impressive average speed of 52 kmph. 8220;I8217;m still too young to drive a car but this is a great substitute,8221; he explained.

MTV VJ Nafisa Joseph made an impressive sight as she careened around the track and declared the experience 8220;fabulous!8221; The star attraction of the evening mingled easily with on-lookers 8212; indeed she blended into the student crowd as though she were a life-long Chandigarh resident. The track operators intend to hold inter-school races to promote the sport 8230; 8220;in the near future8221; promises Rajiv Khanna, one of the proprietors.
