GONDIA, May 20: The State Government has suspended four engineers of the Irrigation Department in Bhandara district for their alleged involvement in corruption in 1984. About two months back, the government had filed cases at a local court against 24 engineers of the Irrigation Department.

The government has ordered a departmental inquiry against the Superintending Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department for his alleged misbehaviour with one of his subordinates. It is alleged that the SE misbehaved with a junior engineer on April 18, 1998.

The Tiroda unit of Shiv Sena has levelled serious charges of corruption against some Irrigation Department employees. The Shiv Sainiks have demanded a thorough probe into the funding for the functions of the Osho Nirvan Dhyan Kendra in November, 1997. Some junior engineers of the Minor Irrigation Department have been said to have contributed huge amounts for these functions.
