A massive and first-of-its-kind religious ceremony is being organised here to fight the global economic recession and terror attacks.
Hundred havan kunds have been set up for the eight-day Maha Yagya that began today on an area of more than seven acres. It was learnt that 250 pandits from Kashi have been called for the ceremony being organised by Sri Mahalakshmi Yagya Samiti (SMYS) and executed under the guidance of Sri Prakharji Maharaj of Sri Vishwanath Dham Ashram (SVDA).
Every day, there would be pooja for three hours in the morning, followed by Bhagwad Geeta path for two hours and a three-hour Krishan rasleela in the evening. SMYS president Vinay Bhudiraja said the yagya would entail an expenditure of more than Rs 30 lakh.
“This is a kind of maha prayog (big experiment) to generate positive energy to repulse the effects of economic crisis,” claimed Bhudhiraja. SMYS secretary Ved Vyas Kansal said during the yagya, prayers would be offered to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. SVDA spokesperson Harsh said, “The yagya will also prove to be beneficial in reducing environmental pollution.”
Ferozepur Range Divisional Commissioner BS Sudan, Moga DC Satwant Singh Johal and SSP Ashok Baath attended the inaugurating ceremony today. A sprawling wooden hut for the yagya has been constructed by skilled workers requisitioned from Kolkata.
