Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya on Sunday confirmed an annual match between Indian and Pakistani domestic first-class champions.

As was first reported in The Indian Express, the proposal to play the match between the champions of India8217;s Ranji Trophy and Pakistan8217;s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was mooted by the Pakistan Cricket Board PCB chairman Shahryar Khan. Incidentally, when originally asked to confirm about the match by this paper a few days back, Dalmiya had feigned ignorance.

On the sidelines of an Asian Cricket Council executive committee meeting though, Dalmiya informed about this 8216;8216;important understanding8217;8217;. 8216;8216;We haven8217;t really decided what would be the format but there has been a general understanding that the top teams of India and Pakistan will meet each other every year,8217;8217; Dalmiya said.
