Indians rounded off yet another brilliant day at the Asian Olympic Boxing qualifying tourney with two of their three pugilists in action advancing to the quarter finals here today.

In the 48kg category, Amandeep Singh knocked out Korean Hong Woo Mon in the first round to advance to the last-eight stage of Asia8217;s first qualifying event for Beijing Olympics. Amandeep next takes on Mongolian Serdamba Purevroj.

In the 60kg category, Diwakar Prasad also made short work of his Pakistani rival Mohd Soffid, beating him 26-8 to set up a clash with Iranian Houman Karami.

However, there was disappointment in store in the 64kg category in which Manoj Kumar went down 10-22 to a Korean. Tomorrow, Akhil Kumar 54kg and Vijender 75kg will fight their quarter final bouts as they seek to move a step closer to the finals, which is a requisite to secure a berth in the Olympics. While Commonwealth games gold medallist Akhil takes on Kazakh Mukhit Amantayev, Doha Asiad bronze winner Vijender will slug it out against Korean Jin Cho Deok.
