NEW DELHI, January 8: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has bagged the Petroleum Secretary’s Trophy of the Petroleum Sports Control Board (PSCB), for its overall excellent performance in various tournaments held during 1996-97.

Prabir Sengupta, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, presented the trophy to Indian Oil chairman M A Pathan.

Indian Oil won six tournaments while finishing runners-up in one of the 15 tournaments held by the PSCB. This was for the third year in succession that Indian Oil was getting the trophy.

IOC won the largest number of tournaments among the 16 participating companies with its players emerging champions in tennis, carrom, chess, table tennis (men) and badminton (men and women). They finished runners-up in table tennis (women). ONGC won five events and were runners-up in three others.
