Pakistan on Thursday promised liberal visa regime for the visiting Indian businessmen and said that there would no restriction on them to visit six cities, instead of four, as has been pointed out by some industrialists.
“If a businessman wants to visit six places for business related activities there is no restriction on that. Whatever is mentioned on visa form itself on business related visit, we always honour that,” Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik said.
Malik said this while responding to queries by industrialists that Pakistan High Commission was giving visa to Indian businessmen for visiting only four cities which include Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Islamabad and they find it impossible to see clients in other important places like Faisalabad.
Pointing out that Pakistan was following a liberal visa policy, Malik said all visas are issued within 48 hours to businessmen on the recommendations on industry chambers in India and Pakistan.
Furthermore, he added, visiting Indian businessmen get multiple-entry visas for six months and they are also exempted from the requirement of reporting to the police.
Meanwhile, Deputy chairman of the Pakistan Planning Commission Salman Faruqui said, “We expect that the same facilities will be provided to the Pakistani businessmen visiting India.” The two governments, Faruqui added, “are seriously discussing a more liberalised new visa policy which will help businessmen from both the sides..
