India weather report, July 25

Rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal and Orissa.

Following is the forecast valid until the morning of July 27th.

Rain/thundershowers at:

East: Many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar and a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

North: Many places in Uttar Pradesh; a few places in Uttarkhand, Himachal Pradesh and isolatd places in Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.

Central: Many places in Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and a few places in Vidarbha.

Peninsula: Many places in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal Karnataka, interior Karnataka, Kerala; a few places in Gujarat region, Marathwada, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and isolated places in Saurashtra and Kutch.

Islands: Many places in Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolotin centres were:

Kolkata: max 33 (+1 ) d c/ min 27 (+1 ) d c

New Delhi: max37 (+2 ) d c/ min 28 (+1 ) d c

Chennai: max 37 (+2 ) d c/ min 25 (-1 ) d c

Mumbai: max 28 (-2 ) d c /min 23 (-2 ) d c.

The axis of the monsoon trough at sea level passes through Ferozepur, Karnal, Mainpuri, Fatehpur, Hazaribagh, Sagar Islands and thence southeastwards to east central Bay.

The other branch extending eastwards has become less marked.

The off-shore trough at sea level from south Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast now extends from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast.

The cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh and neighbourhood persists and now extends upto 4.5 kms a.s.l. A cyclonic circulation between 3.6 and 5.8 kms a.s.l. lies over northwest Bay of Bengal off west Bengal-Orissa coasts.

Another cyclonic circulation between 3.1 and 4.5 kms a.s.l. lies over Gujarat region and neighbourhood. A western distrubane as an upper air system extending upto 4.5 kms a.s.l. lies over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. System is likely to move eastnortheastwards.

Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 180 available stations in the plains, out of 291 stations is 174 cms. Normal for the above 180 stations is 177 cms.

The southwest monsoon hs been active in Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and south interior Karnataka. It has been subdued in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthana nd Gujarat state.
