Focusing on energy sector, India and Turkmenistan discussed collaborative ventures in coal and gas.

At the second session of India-Turkmenistan Inter-Governmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, which concluded here on Tuesday, the two countries also reviewed bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, hydrocarbons, education, science and technology. The first meeting of the commission was held in October 2006 in Ashgabat. Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov led a high-level delegation at the two-day talks. The Indian delegation was led by Minister of state for External Affairs E Ahmed. Meredov also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
