NEW DELHI: National champion V Sathyabhama bagged the silver while Indrish Dhiraj the bronze in the women8217;s section while Vijay Singh claimed the bronze among men in the Sixth Asian Marathon held at Ayutthaya, Thailand, on Sunday last.
National champion Vijay Singh took the men8217;s bronze medal at 2:27.19 behind Japanese winner Kenichi Kawakubo, 2:20.3, and his team-mate Koji Koyanagi 2:24.51.

CALCUTTA: East Bengal Club today signed an agreement with United Breweries group to form a new company United East Bengal Football Team Private Limited8217;.
The new company will take over all activities pertaining to the club8217;s seniorfootball team, East Bengal club8217;s assistant general secretary, Dipak Das told a press conference here.
Sai, Rushmi shine
NEW DELHI: After they won the real final against Mumbai on Tuesday, Sai Jayalakshmi and Rushmi Chakravarthi led Madras to the All-India Inter varsity tennis title in style beating defending champs Bangalore 2-0 at the Hindu College courts on Wednesday.
While Rushmi powered her way past Archana Venkataraman 6-4, 6-0; Sai disposed off S K Tara 6-4, 6-1.
Despite Jahnavi Parekh8217;s absence, Mumbai took the third place, shutting out Punjab University Chandigarh 2-0.

NEW DELHI: Defending champions Western Railway had an easy time in the deciding doubles against Southern Railway with a 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-final of the 44th All-India Railway tennis championship at the DTA courts. In the other semi-final, Northern defeated South Eastern 2-1.
In the first semis, the singles were split after Nitin Kirtane NR shut out Manoj Kumar 6-4, 6-1, and KG Ramesh levelled the tie with a tough 7-6 5, 6-4 win against Ravi Bhaya.
