East Bengal rope in Vece Paes

CALCUTTA: Calcutta football giant East Bengal roped in former international hockey defender Dr Vece Paes as physical instructor for the current season.

Father of India8217;s ace tennis player Leander Paes, Dr Paes had an agreement with East Bengal to assist football coach Monoranjan Bhattacharjee and chalk out a medical chart for the players.

Indians qualify

NEW DELHI: India boys won a bronze finishing third in the World Junior Tennis competition at Jakarta and qualified for the the World Group to be held at Nagoya, Japan from August 24 to 30. However the Indian girls failed to qualify as they finished ninth.

Squash venue

MUMBAI: No decision has yet been taken regarding the Mahindra World Open squash tournament scheduled to be held in Mumbai in December, according to Anil Singh, managing director, Procam Sports.

Denying press reports that suggested a change in venue of the tournament, Singh said that discussions with theProfessional Squash Association PSAand sponsors Mahindras, on various issues are on and the decision will be made public as soon as it is made.
