Eves placed in tough group
NEW DELHI: India has been placed in a tough Group A which includes strong contenders North Korea and Chinese Taipei for the 12th Asian Women8217;s Football Championships to be held in the Philippines next month. Besides the three, Malaysia and Vietnam are the other two teams.
Meetei champ
NEW DELHI: Heikam Ingoba Meetei of Manipur and Ringzen Angmo of Jammu and Kashmir won the 17th Rath Indian Open marathon in men8217;s and women8217;s categories respectively. The 20-year-old Meetei clocked 2:26:14 to bag Rs 50,000 while the 30-year-old Angmo timed 2:50:07, improving upon her SAF Games gold medal timing of 2:55:37.
Women8217;s boxing
SHIMLA: Indian Amateur Boxing Federation president A K Mattoo said the first women8217;s boxing championship will begin next year. The men8217;s boxing team will be participating in the Asian Boxing Championship at Tashkent from October 23-30.
