
COLOMBO, Nov 21: Rajeshkumar Pandy struck a brace, including the golden goal as a spirited India B’ rallied twice to defeat hosts Sri Lanka 3-2 and lift the $ 10,000 Bristol Freedom Cup four-nation Football Tournament here tonight.
Down 0-1 at half-time, the Indians rallied around superbly to defeat the plucky Sri Lankans during extratime.
Rajeshkumar spearheaded the Indian second string’s resurgence on change of ends with Noel Wilson scoring the other goal as the Indians twice came from behind to clinch the exciting victory.
Chatura Maduranage hoisted the lead for the hosts and KM Kabeer had made it 2-1, but the Indians weathered some rough tackling by the hosts and an injury to main goalkeeper Mark Mascarenhas in the later stages to triumph.
