CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: The 13-year-old controversy shrouding Inderjeet Singh8217;s death continued today with the Central Bureau of Investigation claiming that the deceased had committed suicide and was not murdered as maintained by the complainant.
Concluding the arguments on the closure report before UT Chief Judicial Magistrate Sant Parkash, the CBI8217;s deputy legal adviser J.S. Sidhu stated that the possibility of Inderjeet Singh being murdered was ruled out as the room was bolted from inside.
Claiming the door to have been forcibly opened by the local police, he stated that the report by the Central Forensic and Science Laboratory had confirmed the application of force.
The case will now come up on November 26 for rebuttal by the complainant8217;s counsel. It may be recalled that DIG Kunango, in a letter to director, CBI, had earlier stated that Inderjeet Singh had not committed suicide as claimed by the CBI8217;s earlier report, but had in fact been murdered. The report had reportedly indicted three local CBI officers also for passing on the murder as suicide.
