In Chhattisgarh, allotments in two years totalled 12 petrol pumps and 16 LPG agencies. Except for the allotment made to freedom fighter Hari Shankar Aggarwal at Ashuwara in Durg district, tribals do not seem to have been the beneficiaries even in the tribal-dominated districts of Sarguja and Raigarh.
1. Sheetal Patel: LPG agency at Sarangarh in Raigarh. He’s the son of Raipur Superintendent of Police R C Patel. ‘‘My son applied for it when he was an MBA student. He got it on merit. No favour was sought from anyone for the allotment,’’ Patel said.
2. Sunil Gupta: Pump at Tetla in Raigarh district. He’s the nephew of state health minister K K Gupta. ‘‘Sunil told me about the allotment only after he received the orders. It was on merit. If it’s a wrong or unfair allotment, let the same be cancelled,’’ K K Gupta said.
3. Anup Kumar Aggarwal: Pump at Rajim, Raipur. He is brother-in-law of Gauri Shankar Aggarwal, BJP MLA and state party treasurer. ‘‘I am an engineer and qualified to operate a petrol pump. My selection is purely on merit basis. Neither the BJP nor any of its leaders had any role,’’ Anup said.
4. Ravi Kant Baghel: LPG agency at Charoda (V) in Durg district. He is a cousin of Vijay Baghel, president of the Bhilai Nagar Parishad, whose wife is the niece of Ramesh Bais, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting. Ravi Kant’s brother Shashi Baghel, a BJP leader, said, ‘‘My brother is in the Congress and he never sought help from Bais. The minister came to know of the allotment only when he was approached for the inauguration.’’
5. Harinandan Singh: LGP agency at Surajpur in Sarguja district. He’s a close business associate of the BJP mandal adhyaksh and is related to former MP Lakhi Ram Aggarwal. ‘‘I am not sure about our exact relations with him but he did approach me for help after he applied for a site under an open category. It did not materialise,’’ said Amar Aggarwal, BJP MLA and son of Lakhi Ram Aggarwal.
6. Baleshwar Singh: LPG agency at Koria block in Sarguja district. Close to BJP leader Banarsi Jaiswal.
