No water for three days
Kolhapur: The standing committee meeting of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation KMCwas today rocked when Tararani Aghadi TA corporator Dileep Magdum said more than 40,000 people did not get any water for three days as Maharashtra State Electricity Board had failed to provide adequate power supply to Apte Nagar station.

Nearly ten per cent of the city8217;s population residing in Sane Guruji Colony, More colony, Nale colony, Deokar Panand, Rajlakshmi Nagar have gone without water since February 17. The civic administration admitted that water supply could not be provided to people residing in these areas as the Apte Nagar station could not lift water.

An enraged Magdum cornered the civic administration on why alternative arrangements were not made.

8220;How long will we continue to depend on the MSEB,8221;asked Magdum. The twelve-member standing committee then passed a resolution condemning MSEB8217;s inefficient functioning. The civic administration later hurriedly sent a delegation to MSEB office in the city. Led by deputy mayor Jaysingh Raikar and deputy municipal commissioner Vilas Patil, the delegation besides registering its protest with MSEB officials, also demanded that adequate power supply be provided to the station.

The MSEB officials told the delegation that the flaw had occurred due to low voltage, as only 170 KV power was supply from Gadmudshingi power station instead of its normal capacity of 220 KV. The MSEB officials also said that they had made alternative arrangement to provide adequate voltage from a substation at Kale village, however it failed to provide required voltage.
