
Mild tremors rock western Maharashtra
Mild tremors measuring 3.9 on the Richter Scale, originating from the vicinity of Koyna dam were felt in western Maharashtra districts around 9.15 p.m. Sunday. The slight intensity shock had its epicentre somewhere around 17.4 degrees North and 73.8 degrees East in Koyna region, the Indian Meteorological Department officials said.
The Koyna dam officials said that tremors were felt widely in the region. The epicentre and direction of the shock could be ascertained only after analysing reports from three other seismograph stations of the Koyna Dam, they said.
There were no immediate reports of any damage from the region.
Dhole-Patil lodges complaint against Bhatia
Former mayor and leader of Nationalist Congress Party Ulhas Dhole-Patil has lodged a criminal defamation complaint against Pune Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia.
In his complaint, Dhole-Patil has stated that Bhatia had defamed him by providing false information to media concerning a public tap water installed by the municipal corporation.
Dhole-Patil has stated the corporation had installed public tap in Mundhwa near his cattle shed a few years back when there was a slum. He said the cattle shed of Kapila Dairy has two borewells and there was no need to use public tap water. Dhole-Patil has clarified that Kapila Dairy had paid water tax at the commercial rate to the corporation for the use of public tap in Koregaon Park.
Kakade to join Congress
Mumbai: Janata Dal State unit president, former MP Sambhajirao Kakade will formally join the Congress on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Kripashankar Singh said that Kakade will join the Congress on Wednesday in presence of MPCC president Prataprao Bhosale.
