
2 United Airlines personnel held
Two cabin crew members of United Airlines were arrested at the Indira Gandhi International IGI airport today on charges of smuggling foreign currency. The total worth of the currency seized is over Rs one crore, making it the biggest seizure of the year.
Manoj Dubey and Anuj Vohra were apprehended when they were about to board United Airlines flight UA 002. The London-Delhi-Hongkong flight was scheduled to leave Delhi airport at 1.35 a.m. The two have reportedly confessed to the crime.
Shahtoosh trader remanded
A city court today remanded a Chandni Chowk based shopkeeper to judicial custody for 14 days. Naresh Narula was arrested yesterday for allegedly trading in Shahtoosh shawls in violation of the Wildlife Protection Act. Narula was arrested from his business premises 8212; M/S Shyam and Company North Private Limited following a raid. The surprise check was conducted by a joint team of the Wildlife Protection Department and the Special Branch of the Delhi Police. The raid led to the recovery of 91 Shahtoosh shawls, estimated to be worth around Rs 1 crore.
Shahtoosh shawls are made of Antelope wool. Antelopes are slated as Schedule-I animals under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1973.
