Indian boxer in pre-quarters
TASHKENT: Mohd Ali Qamar reached the pre-quarter finals of the lightweight section without landing a punch in the preliminary rounds of the Asian Boxing Championships. SAF gold medallist Qamar got a bye in the first round.

SINGAPORE: Jyoti Randhawa shot a superb four-under par 68 to finish joint third in the Singapore Golf Open which ended with Australian Kenny Druce beating big-hitting South African Desvonde Botes in a sudden-death play-off.

PUNE: Amish Jaitha regained the blue Diamond Open Amateur Open Golf title aggregating 291 at Poona Club. Jaitha carded 74 for a six-stroke victory lead.
