
CHANDIGARH, Aug 11: The city unit of the Indian Institute of Materials Management celebrated its 13th annual day by organising a chief executive’s meet on the theme “Transformation for Purchasing and Supply Chain in the Next Millennium”.
Twelve chief executives representing various industries in Chandigarh and neighbouring states and 200 delegates took part in the meet.
Addressing the gathering, branch chairman T. K. Magazine said that 70 per cent of industries’ capital cost and working capital was spent by the materials managers.
The responsibility lay with them to cut down costs and render services in days to come. Haryana State Forest Corporation MD S. K. Dhar cautioned of tough times mankind would face due to depletion of forest, water resources, inadequate solid waste management and pollutants.
