IGNOU task force for better services

NEW DELHI, June 7: The Indira Gandhi National Open University IGNOU will set up a task force to strengthen the student support services and to ensure that students receive course materials in time, vice-chancellor Abdul W. Khan said today.Dr Khan, after joining IGNOU as its fourth vice 8211; chancellor, was addressing the first meeting of heads of schools and divisions in the campus.

He said the diversion from the centuries old conventional system of education to the distance education system was not an easy task and it would take a few more years for the new system to be accepted in toto.Quality assurance, backed with effective students support services, would help IGNOU to become a premier institution which was set up to serve the needs of the rural population, women, the disabled and other disadvantaged categories, he added.
