If men can go topless why can’t we? ask women

Australia's Conservative MP Fred Nile had proposed that topless bathing be banned in New South Wales.

Now, ladies under the threat of a ban preventing them from baring their breasts on beaches in New South Wales seem to have finally found a way to remain ‘topless’ in water — they want ‘boob-ban’ for bathing blokes.

“I’ve seen men that have bigger breasts that some people would find more offensive. If you’re going to ban anything, ban that,” a topless bather, Vicki Ebel, was quoted by ‘The Daily Telegraph’ newspaper in Sydney as saying.

Australia’s Conservative MP Fred Nile had proposed that topless bathing be banned in New South Wales and women be specifically prohibited, not men, since “some of the radical groups say men go topless, why can’t women”.

“The other factor is with skin cancer the breast on a woman is very sensitive and we have a huge increase in breast cancer already,” Nile was quoted by the Australian newspaper as saying.

While the ban has some support, it has been rejected by the wider community, as well as Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Acting Premier Carmel Tebbutt.

“Governments can sometimes get themselves into all sorts of trouble by trying to stray into areas that are better left to individuals. It doesn’t offend me but I know it does offend some people. But we have had topless sunbathing on beaches in NSW for quite some time now,” Tebbutt said.
