In what could well end up being the latest in a series of “anti-ICL” fracas between the BCCI and other national boards, former Sri Lankan cricketer and Indian Cricket League player Upul Chandana gave away the man of the match award to Virender Sehwag after India won the second Test in Galle on Sunday.

Leg-spinner Chandana retired and plays for ICL’s Kolkata side. Asked about Chandana’s presence in the presentation party, SLC spokesman Shane Fernando told a website that Chandana was invited purely as a player hailing from Galle. “We did not look at Upul as an ICL or a non-ICL player. It was an invite as a former player from the region,” he said.
