I-T Department raids editor’s home, office

MUMBAI, November 27: The office and residence of Uday Acharya, editor and proprietor of the city tabloid, Veto Power were raided by the Income-Tax Department on Thursday. Acharya is also the owner of several language tabloids, including Mumbai Sandhya and Politics.

The raids were on till late Thursday evening and account books were being scrutinised. A large sum of unaccounted income is likely to be indentified, sources said.

Another 18 premises belonging to three jewelers, known for manufacture of gold chains, were also targeted under separate raids by the department on Thursday. These include Sancheti, Jain and Anmol jewelers.
