Social activist Anna Hazare’s indefinite hunger strike, which entered the seventh day today, is bereft of any political support. The Shiv Sena and the BJP are keeping a safe distance from his agitation.

‘‘I don’t need the support of any political party, since I enjoy the support of the masses,’’ Hazare said.

He also made it clear his agitation would continue unless the government conceded his demand for a high-level probe. ‘‘From day one, there is no change in my demand. I have told the government the probe team should comprise three retired high court judges. So long as my demand is not accepted, there is no question of my calling off the agitation,’’ he said.

Hazare has also said all the four Cabinet members — Sureshdada Jain, Padamsinh Patil, Vijaykumar Gavit and Nawab Malik — should be sacked from the ministry. Former CM Narayan Rane and Mumbai BJP chief Vinod Tawde said, though the saffron combine was not keen to participate in Hazare’s campaign, it has full sympathy for him.
