Leading an underdog team to the finals of the Indian Premier League may have taken him to a new high but ace leg-spinner and former Australian cricketer Shane Warne ruled out returning to international cricket.
“I am very happy with retirement. I am happy playing the IPL for six weeks of the year which gives me about 18 months to spend with my kids and other interests,” Warne said.
“Business off the field is also going fantastic and life is pretty good at the moment,” Warne, who retired from the international cricket in 2007 after taking 708 wickets in Test cricket and 293 in ODIs, said.
Warne, who has earned plaudits for his captaincy during the IPL, said he had no regrets about not having captained Australia.
“I did not captain Australia but I do not have any regrets about it. I played for Australia in a wonderful era in which we won at home and away and I am pretty happy with that,” he said.
However, Warne said captaincy did bring out the best in him since one of his strengths was his good understanding of different people.
