The first round of talks with the Centre over, the Hurriyat is gearing up for endorsement from its organs. The group has called a ‘‘special’’ meeting tomorrow to discuss the January 22 joint statement.

The meeting of the three organs — executive council, working committee and general council — with Maulana Abbas Ansari taking the chair is aimed at initiating discussions on the statement agreed upon by the Hurriyat’s five-member team and Dy PM L.K. Advani in New Delhi. The Hurriyat team will submit details of the peace process so far and seek suggestions on carrying it forward at its meeting in March.

While Ansari arrived in Srinagar on Sunday, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat and Fazal Haq Qureshi reached here today. Executive member Bilal Gani Lone is still in Delhi.
