
CHENNAI, May 31: A four-member Hindu Munnani delegation met Governor Fathima Beevi on Saturday morning and submitted a memorandum seeking her sanction to prosecute Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for allegedly wounding the feelings of the Hindu community and thereby committing an offence under Sec 295 to 298 of the Indian Constitution’.
According to the memorandum, the Chief Minister even while turning down the invitation from the Munnani for Vinayaga Chathurthi celebration, in August last year, said that Lord Vinayaga was not a Tamil God but a North Indian deity. The Munnani threatened to sue him if he failed to tender an apology for making statements violative’ of the country’s integrity.
