Delhi has the National Rail Museum and last week, the Civil Aviation Ministry decided that it would start work on an aviation museum along similar lines. With old aircraft from every available Indian stable slated to be showcased, the plans require a committee to draw up the concept. And the buzz in Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan is that the ministry wants to rope in someone of the eminence of Ratan Tata to head the panel given his own interest in the sector and the association of the Tatas with India’s aviation history. The people concerned have set their heart on locating the museum at the current Safdarjang Airport. The big question as always: will the security agencies clear the plan without much ado?
