Hero Honda Motors is targeting manufacture of 1.8 million motorcycles during the current financial year ending March 2003 for which the production capacity of its two existing plants is being stepped up to two million units per annum.
The company’s chairman Brijmohan Lall told reporters here that though the company has done preliminary work on setting up of a third manufacturing unit, implementation schedule of the project would depend on future demand.
Hero Honda also announced the launch of 133 cc motorcycle, ‘Ambition’. The bike has been priced at Rs 44,612 (ex-showroom) in Delhi. The new bike is equipped with 11 bhp engine, gives a mileage of 79 km per litre under test conditions.
