NEW DELHI, July 28: The Congress today extended the last date for withdrawal of nominations of Congress Parliamentary Party CPP delegates to the AICC in an attempt to have 8220;unanimity8221;.
Fifteen CPP members are to be elected as delegates to the 1,000-strong All India Congress Committee AICC and there were 24 in the race. Hectic deliberations saw the list pruned to 18 by this evening but there were still three more than the 15 who would go through. So, returning officer Ram Niwas Mirdha put off the withdrawals till 2 pm tomorrow.The six who withdrew today were Banarsi Das Gupta, G M Kunturkar, Sanat Mehta, Anantha Venkatrami Reddy, N Subramanyam and Frida Topno.
