The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its judgment on an appeal filed by former Union Minister and JMM chief Shibu Soren challenging his conviction and life sentence in the Shashinath Jha murder case.
Soren was awarded life imprisonment by a trial court last December for the alleged kidnap and murder of his private secretary.
In his appeal, the JMM chief had challenged the lower court’s judgment for not taking into consideration DNA reports on a skeleton exhumed at Piska Village in Ranchi in 1998. The main thrust of the appeal lay in the contention that four consecutive forensic reports on the skeleton to ascertain it as that of Jha’s proved to be negative.
