Madras HC on Wednesday acquitted all eight accused, including the four sentenced to death, in the 1997 police constable murder case of Coimbatore that triggered a communal clash in the city. A bench, comprising Justice N. Dinakar and Justice R. Balasubramanian, acquitted the accused, stating the prosecution had failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
