
CHANDIGARH, July 23: Harpreet Singh Dhillon and Sabeeha Dhillon shot gold medals in the men’s and women’s section, respectively, in the air rifle (ISSF) event, in the 24th Chandigarh State shooting championships at the Patiali Rao Ranges, Sector 25, today.
Harpreet, who won first position in air rifle event had an aggregate score of 540/600, which was five points better than Parminder Singh, who took the second spot. Jaswinder Singh with a total of 508, got third place in the event.
In the women’s section, Sabeeha, who had a score of 371/400, faced no opposition on her way to winning the gold. Her nearest rival Tripta Kumari had a score of 326. Gurdarshan Kaur finished third with a total of 316.
In the air pistol event (ISSF), there was keen competition in the senior section. Harminder Singh Sangha hit the target with precision to lead the field in the air pistol event (ISSF). He had a score of 526/600, followed closely by LT Col (Retd) JS Ahluwalia, who had an aggregate score of 515.
In the women’s group, Maninder Kaur with a total of 273/400, was leading in the air pistol event.
Pavitar, who shot two gold medals on the opening day of the meet, was leading in the .22 standard prone event, with a total of 267/300.
The organisers will also conduct Air pistol event for journalists tomorrow.
