CHANDIGARH, Feb 21: Fine half century by Harjeet (54) enabled Gymkhana Cricket Club (Mohali) to score a convincing 50 runs victory Videocon `A’ in the second Shankar Lal Memorial cricket tournament held at CRPF ground here today.

Electing to bat, Gymkhana CC made a fine start and scored 158 in the allotted 25 overs, losing seven wickets.

Harjeet was the star performer for the team. He hit eight boundaries in his knock of 54 runs which came off 46 deliveries. Deepinder (30) and Gurchran (19) also contributed to the score.

Sandeep Arora and Ravinder got three wickets each for the loser.

Chasing the winning total, Videocon was back to the pavilion in the 23rd over for 107.

Charanpreet Singh (27), Saravpreet (21) were the main batsmen to score for the Videocon.

Dinesh scalped three while Navdeep Singh and Kamal took two wickets each.

In another match Bombay Cricket Club beat Irfan XI by 7 runs.

Punjab b’ball
The 49th Punjab State Senior basketball championship for men and women will be held at Hoshiarpur from March 1 to 3, according to R.S.Gill, president of Punjab Basketball Association. More than 30 teams are expected to participate in the championship. The Punjab teams, (men and women) for the Senior National basketball championship, being organised at Jaipur from March 15 to 22, would also be selected during the state meet.

Entries close with Teja Singh, general secretary PBA at Ludhiana on February 27.
