Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd GUVNL will open bids submitted by the private players for long-term power purchase agreements on Monday, sources in the state government said.

8220;GUVNL, the apex state electricity body, will enter long-term power supply agreements for 2,000 mw. The move could attract investments over Rs 10,000 crore for the state,8221; Minister of State for Energy Saurabh Patel said.

The memoranda of understanding in this regard will be signed with the selected bidders during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors8217; Summit VGGIS scheduled to be held in January next year, they said.

According to Patel, among those who have submitted the bids include prominent players like Tata Power, Reliance Power, Essar Power, Torrent Power, Adani Power, Visa Power, L038;T, KSK Energy, Patel Energy, JSW Energy, Jindal Power, Sanghi Energy, Aryan Coal and PTC India Limited.

GUVNL had invited bids from private parties after evaluating the technical proposals last year. It had extended the deadline four times for awarding final contracts. The government has now decided to disclose the bids on December 15 and award the final contracts.

8220;We will sign the MoUs with the selected bidders in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit,8221; Patel said, adding that the government may go for more than 2,000 MW if it gets competitive bidding from private parties.
