
MUMBAI, August 14: Nizamuddin Shaikh who was arrested by the police in connection with the brutal murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar was today remanded in police custody by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Veer Singh Taware till August 27, 1997.
Shaikh, arrested yesterday, has been booked under section 302, 307, 120 (b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the first information report (FIR) filed before the court, Shaikh was involved in the firing on television star Arjun of Mahabharat fame, murder of producer Javed Siddiqui and many other cases. Meanwhile, no further arrests were made in Kumar’s murder case. Joint Commissioner (law and order) Charan Singh Azad said that investigations are still in progress and Shaikh’s involvement is yet to be known as witnesses are yet to identify him.
